Mud Run Program
One of the biggest trends to emerge for runners in the last couple years are the challenging, messy, but always fun, “mud runs.” Mud runs are exactly like they sound: competitive races mixed with various obstacle courses, somewhat similar to a steeplechase, only imagine the course run through the muddiest conditions you can imagine!
Annually, there are approximately 369 mud runs in the US with an average of 1,000 participants per race. That’s an average of 369,000 participants per race- and that doesn’t even include the thousands of spectators.
At Funds2Orgs we want in on the mess. We want ALL of the muddy footwear left after the race is run. Most of the footwear used by mud runners is no longer suitable for competitive races, and not to mention a pain to clean up. Those same mud-caked shoes no longer suitable for races can now change lives in developing nations. We aim to ship the shoes to the people who need them most. The shoes will be cleaned and used in Micro-enterprises by vendors who will feed their families and grow closer to financial sustainability.
The highest number of mud races occur between the months of February and August, especially in California, Florida, Georgia, New York, Ohio, and Texas. Our goal is to turn mud runs into Funds2Orgs shoe drives that benefit both the race participants and individuals in developing countries.
Mud Race Shoe Drive Guidelines:
- Footwear must be placed in plastic bags and shipped within 24 hours of the race
- Funds2Orgs will pay either the race organizers or charity of their choice
Here at Funds2Orgs we pride ourselves on maintaining the free spirit of fun and exercise. Not only are participants getting the fitness and health benefits associated with this style of racing, but now they can incorporate another level of charitable giving.
