Major shifts in marketing strategy

3 Major Shifts for Marketing Strategies & Fundraising

We get it, there’s no need to revisit 2020, but 3 major shifts happened last year in the nonprofit space.

1. Virtual Events & Fundraisers

Last year, virtual fundraising ideas and events became a big deal. Virtual events aren’t going to go away. For nonprofits, virtual events make a lot of sense. For instance, the event costs go way down, and geographic limitations get eliminated. So, continue virtual events, and boost up attendance.

2. Nonprofit & For-Profit Connections

One of the other things that came out of 2020 is that connections between for-profit and nonprofit organizations matter. Let’s face it; the face of fundraising has changed. And, people are much more open to for-profits in the social good space. So, leveraging corporate and nonprofit relationships makes a lot of sense.

3. Strategic Digital Marketing Strategies

Finally, last year, it seemed that everyone got online—even seniors who may have been more resistant to technology. For nonprofits, it means that they have to show up wherever their supporters are in the real and digital worlds. Doing so increases brand awareness. Moreover, while social media is changing, it’s not going anywhere!

Virtual events are here to stay

Tools for Virtual Events

We know that for your marketing strategies and fundraising, you need practical solutions. So, we’d like to share with you a few of the best platforms for virtual events.

1. Double the Donation

One of the most untapped fundraising streams is matching gifts. The Double the Donation tool allows your nonprofit to inform donors about the opportunities to increase their contributions. Understanding the basics of matching gifts could elevate your marketing strategies and get you more fundraising revenue.

2. OneCause

Another of our favorite tools to recommend is OneCause. This platform allows you to do online and event fundraising. For example, they have solutions for virtual auctions (always fun!), peer-to-peer fundraising, and text-to-give.

3. Charity Engine

If you need a tool for donor management and online fundraising, take a Charity Engine. Some of this platform’s essential functions are its robust donation forms, campaign pages, and payment processing.

4. Snowball Fundraising

We think of Snowball as an all-in-one solution for your fundraising needs. This platform allows nonprofits great flexibility in their donation forms, CRM dashboard, and tracking tools for campaigns. Snowball provides nonprofits a solid fundraising foundation.

Of course, there are other platforms on the market to support fundraising and marketing. So, we’d like to share honorable mentions. These include Soapbox Engage, Salsa Engage, Bonfire, Fundly, and Livestream.

Segmentation is important

Segmentation and Personalization for Marketing Strategies

By now, you understand that people expect on-demand and personalized content. And that’s why segmentation and personalization are so crucial. Sure, those ideas have been in the minds of fundraisers for a long time, but now it’s super important. Everyone expects customization!

Fortunately, technology could help your fundraising team zero-in on segmentation. Doing so allows your nonprofit to improve your relationships with supporters, who feel special. Moreover, by taking the time to segment and personalize, your audience will respond more favorably. Remember, for your marketing strategies that people don’t want to receive generic messaging.
